GROUNDS UPDATE
7/21/11

The dog days of summer have in deed arrived. The weather the past few weeks has
been a little on the warm side to say the least. The forecast for the next fifteen
days shows that the temperatures are to continue to be in the mid 90's and the
evening lows in the mid 70's and very humid. Needless to say it is extremely hard
on the turfgrass. We are closely monitoring the moisture levels in make sure that
we are maintaining a moist but not overly wet soil profile. When the turfgrass
roots system become over wet or waterlogged during a period of hot and humid weather
we can be hit with many nasty diseases as well as have the roots of the turfgrass
plant become stressed and decline. On some hot sunny days we will run short syringe
cycles of irrigation to those areas to cool the leaf blades down and also provide
water to the shallower turfgrass roots.

Please continue in assisting the Grounds staff in maintaining the golf course by
repairing your ballmarks so that the injured turf will heal quicker.
